Splitit

Splitit is an After Effects script that splits any line of text horizontally and applies motion to both halves. A playful tool for dynamic type animation.

About

Splitit started as a small idea, sparked by a branding concept I came across that used a powerful visual: splitting a word or phrase in half and tilting the pieces apart. That single move added so much energy and rhythm, it made me wonder how easily it could be reused.

So I built a script. You input any line of text in After Effects, and SplitIt slices it through the middle, letting you animate both halves. It’s a simple tool, made to experiment with dynamic motion in typography; from titles to taglines to typographic logos.

I’m still fine-tuning it, but it’s already proven to be a fun little playground for motion-focused type design.
